CLASSICAL BOLLYWOOD DANCE

NEW COURSES START FROM APRIL 2011.

Bollywood is a glamorous dance form inspired by the Hindi film industry in Bombay (Mumbai), India. 

Nikita Thakrar, the course tutor is a creative "Classical Bollywood" dance choreographer and her students are fortunate to receive a high standard of training in Classical Indian Kathak dance incorporated into Bollywood routines!

Nikita has had Bollywood dance training with Saroj Khan, the legendary choreographer in Mumbai. She has also had extensive experience performing and teaching Bollywood dance to children and adults. Over a ten week course the student will be taught upto three dance routines, which are taught by a series of dance steps continued each week. The songs are then compiled into a medley which can be bought on CD from the company and performed to friends and family! 

The courses are ideal for helping children re-connect with their cultural roots, and developing their musical knowledge and language skills. The classes are taught by Nikita herself, and so are disciplined, starting with a prayer, 30 minutes of Kathak technique and 30 minutes of learning a dance routine for beginners. For intermediate/advanced level the class time is split equally between technique and routine.

Depending on the student, they can start to show progress after just a few weeks, although 1-2 terms is reccomended to see a major improvement in the student's posture, grace and overall attitude to dance which is taught as an art-form, rather then merely for entertainment.

At the end of the year (in July) we offer selected students the prostegious opportunity to participate in our annual Summer production, by performing their dance routines on stage in front of a live theatre audience. Tickets are sold for this show, and the next one will be held on Sunday 24th July in Maidenhead.

The company run Bollywood dance classes for adults on a Tuesday evening and Sunday afternoon in Burnham, Slough. Classes specifically for children are held in: Burnham in Slough, Uxbridge in Hillingon and Stoke Poges, near Gerrards Cross! For more information please contact us.

Minimum length of course: 10 weeks with 1 week break in between.
Start dates: January, April and September 2011
Course tutor: Nikita Thakrar (upto 20 students per class).
Fees: Beginners = £85/term, Intermediate = £115/term, Advanced = £150/term.
Uniform: Dancing Nikita Company T-shirt with black leggings to be worn with ghungroos (ankle bells) and barefoot.

(Ghungroos and T-shirt costs £10 each and can be ordered/bought on the first day of class).

Enrolment procedure: 
The company has been running since 2005, and many of the students have been with us since the beginning. Once a student joins they very rarely tend to leave, due to its excellence in training and encouragement in self-development. Therefore the courses have very limited places. We therefore advise enrolments to be made in advance. Due to the high demand, soon we will only be accepting students on an audition basis. Each student to us, is not just a number, but an individual who we provide not only training but support and mentoring to throughout their dance training.
